The ACT mathematics test is a 60-question, 60-minute test designed to assess the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12. The test presents multiple-choice questions that require you to use reasoning skills to solve practical problems in mathematics. Most questions are self-contained. Some questions may belong to a set of several questions (e.g., several questions about the same graph or chart). Knowledge of basic formulas and computational skills are assumed as background for the problems, but recall of complex formulas and extensive computation is not required.
The material covered on the test emphasizes the major content areas that are prerequisites to successful performance in entry-level courses in college mathematics. Nine scores are reported for the ACT mathematics test: a total test score based on all 60 questions and eight reporting category scores based on specific mathematical knowledge and skills.
Note: You may use a calculator on the mathematics test. See the ACT Calculator Policy for details about permitted and prohibited calculators. If you use a prohibited calculator, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored. You are not required to use a calculator. All of the mathematics problems can be solved without using a calculator.

My In-person/Remote Tutoring Process...
In order to master the skills and concepts of the test, we will take a head on approach. Through a series of individual lessons and the completion of practice problems, you will see your score improve with each lesson. A brief summary of the tutoring process is listed below:
These are the steps in which we will master the Math portion of the ACT
1. You will take a mock ACT math test so that we can determine a baseline score and to also see what skills you
need to work on.
2. We will meet during your scheduled tutoring sessions (in-person or remotely) to go over and master the skills
that need be addressed.
3. Finally, when you think you're ready I will give you a post-tutoring mock test to see how much
you have improved.
